In 1977 President Jimmy Carter gave a speech renouncing America’s “inordinate fear of communism.” The real question, in looking back, was this a declaration of his naivete, or a confession of his genuine ideological sympathy?
It was clearly the latter.
Most Americans would do well to examine the cultural and world-wide harms the Carter Presidency sponsored. A fawning media has now airbrushed his legacy. Apparently he did not understand Marxism or its many emotional subterfuges that masquerade as ‘making progress’ for humanity. He simply ‘believed.’
Like many college students today, Carter thought, “I want progress. If this is merely progressivism, why would you be opposed to that? Why “fear Communism?” If Jimmy Carter, committed Sunday School teacher, found the teachings of Marx and Engles as harmless, why shouldn’t we?
Millions of lives is why.
In an earlier piece I described the turpitude of his publicly praised, facile Christianity. Carters’ intentional and deliberate posturing as a proletarian “Common man” was documented by his own Secret Service detail. His self-carried luggage was actually empty. He told his Secret Service agents to never greet nor speak to him. His clear disdain for any American military in his presence was openly palpable. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11807897/Ex-Secret-Service-agents-reveal-Jimmy-Carter-actually-rude-time.html
He demanded that the American Presidential office be made ‘common’ and even prohibited the use of ‘Hail to the Chief.’
Jimmy Carter did his best to usher in a ‘progressive’ era. Part of this was his open embrace and praise for Fidel Castro, Marxist hero. We earlier mentioned his acceptance of the feminist-abortion litmus test for all of his many judges. Even wife Rosalyn considered herself a champion of abortion, the ERA and feminist ideology.
But just as leftist governments today, progressive advocates often neglect to examine, much less explain, the cultural cliff toward which their “progress” is taking us. Their offices and media flacks will declare their ‘kindness’. But the hellish results of their benevolence are then dismissed. Or in the case of Carter, conveniently ‘forgotten.’
Today’s collegiate “post-modern” historians will simply dismiss his documented history. And that is literally the operating procedure of all such, neo-marxist “progress.” “The past is now to be left behind, a brave new world lay ahead.”
That is Bunk. BS. Cultural Mire, Death, and literal firestorms await all such policies.
A Habit of Betrayal
During the 4 years of the Jimmy Carter presidency, 13 countries fell to communism. Including Nicaragua where Carter’s administration betrayed the longtime American ally. In most cases, these nations did not just fall to communism. They were actively betrayed into the hands of communist revolutionaries as a result of Carter’s treacherous and benign sounding “globalising of human rights” campaign. A high-priority foreign policy goal of Jimmy Carter's presidency was to force the people of Rhodesia to hand over all governing power to Robert Mugabe's Red Chinese trained and armed terrorists.
Once Carter no longer wielded the most powerful office in the world, no countries went communist during Reagan’s two terms.
A Legacy of Oppression
Americans removed Jimmy Carter from the presidency 45 years ago. However, the people of Zimbabwe are still oppressed with Carter's legacy in the form of Robert Mugabe's ongoing, murderous Marxist dictatorship. The people of Iran (and by extension Israel and the entire Middle East) are still oppressed by the Ayatollahs. Carter intentionally undercut the Shah, then made nice with the Ayatollah. But it was not reciprocated.
Carter continued teaching Sunday School for the rest of his long life.
All Sunday School teachers know of the Sadducees and Pharisees; the ‘governing’ religious models of their time. But for them and us, and President Jimmy Carter, it is not your position, or what you say - it is what you do with your office that defines that office. The apostle Paul, in helping us cut out posturing and instead use our position to advance others, reminds us “The end goal of our teaching is this: Love that arises from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and faith unfeigned.” 1 Tim. 1:5.
Faith for show- faith for public consumption - is the most dangerous faith you can have. Let us all guard against it.
WOw...I had no idea. How did he get elected? Oh yah...Ford pardoned Nixon. The public is so gullible.
